FREE Rapid Induction for new Adult Social Care staff
Efficient staff recruitment and training is vital at this time.
BCP Council is offering a programme of interactive online 'Rapid Induction' sessions for new staff.
These sessions comply with CQC requirements and allow staff to demonstrate they are safe to start work in an Adult Social Care setting.
This half day session covers the following:
• MOVING AND HANDLING (ASSISTING AND MOVING PEOPLE) - THEORY ONLY
This interactive training is offered via Zoom and can be accessed from an online device at work or from home.
The following is required to participate fully in this session:
• An online device (with web cam/speakers/mic) plus a reliable broadband/wi-fi connection • Access to Zoom • A quiet area • Delegate name and email address must be provided (work or personal) so a link can be e-mailed directly to the delegate to enable them join the session • A notebook and pen
Delegates will need to click on the e-mailed link at least 15 mins prior to the start time so the course can start promptly
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) If a delegate does not have the necessary IT equipment to participate fully, is late logging on to a session or is unable to participate on the day*, we will ask them to rebook on a future date. (Sessions will be locked after the start time has passed)
* Please cancel bookings if a delegate is no longer available by logging into CPD Online
2) There will be a requirement for care managers to oversee workbook completion, arrange workplace observations and match new staff with existing care workers to enable shadowing of daily activities

HR Corporate - Competency Interview Skills Workshop with the NCS via Zoom | Venue: Virtual Room (Teams, Skype etc) |

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for booking on to this course is 16 February.
The National Careers Service, in conjunction with Ansbury, are running this workshop to support any staff who are interested in developing their interview skills or would like a refresher.
Delegates will be asked to complete a very short action plan as part of the National Career Service funding requirements. The paperwork required by delegates will be sent out in advance, you will then be sent the Zoom meeting invite.

Medicine Assessors Training Workshop | Venue: Interactive Online |

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) requires care providers to have a formal system to assess staff competence to administer medication. In this workshop we will assess your competence to assess others administering a range of common dosage forms.
YOU MUST COMPLETE THE WHOLE WORKSHOP
We are currently running this as a blended course featuring the following:
• An online course covering how to administer medicines systematically • An online virtual medicines round competence assessment • Two 2 hour live webinars on 9 & 23 February 2021 10.00-12.00 • A final online assessment

Safeguarding Adults Awareness Refresher Interactive Online | Venue: Interactive Online |

**This event is for Adult Social Care BCP Council staff only **
An essential half-day course for staff who have attended either a one-day Essential Safeguarding Adults Skills course or refresher 3 years ago. Staff that have not attended a refresher in the last 4 years are advised to attend Safeguarding Adults Awareness again.
Course Aims: To ensure staff continue to be aware of their current roles and responsibilities within the Pan-Dorset Multi-Agency Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedure.
This session will be run virtually due to the inability to run face-to-face courses and can be accessed at work or from home. The following is required to participate fully in this session:

ELKLAN Speech and Language Support for 3 to 5's - INVITATION ONLY | Venue: Virtual Room (Teams, Skype etc) |

This accredited course is for BCP nursery staff and Hubs practitioners who work with children aged 3 - 5 to support their speech and language development.
The course is a blend of face to face virtual delivery sessions plus online modules. You can receive a Level 2 or Level 3 Ofqual Accreditation on successful submission of your portfolio assignments.
The Level 3 Elklan accreditation requires learners to be capable of more in-depth study and to plan, implement, describe, and carefully justify and evaluate their practice. Assignments are externally marked and submitted using ELKLAN's online portal.
EVERY WEEK : • 1 hour webinar with your tutor * 1 hour weekly online module - must be completed before the next webinar • 2 hours planning and implementing activities and tasks with children to complete your portfolio assignments • 1-2 hours writing up your portfolio answers • 3 hours talking about the course with a colleague, thinking, observing the communication skills of children with and without difficulties, background reading and reflecting on that which you have learnt.
Each session provides targets the practitioner will be able to achieve by the end of the course. Learners are required to produce written assignments based on the work carried out with children in their setting. |

The engagement model is an assessment tool that helps schools meet their duties in supporting pupils who are working below the level of the national curriculum and who are not engaged in subject-specific study. The model is suitable for all pupils who have not yet met the whole of Pre Key Stage 1 in all subject areas. The engagement model replaces P scales 1 to 4 and will become statutory from the 2020/21 academic year. |
