Free on-road parking is available on Whitecliff Road, Sherwood Avenue and some surrounding roads (10 minutes’ walk to Civic Centre Annexe)

The pedestrian entrance is accessed via Sandbanks Road (opposite a blue and white house) and is signposted 'Learning and Development' (no delegate parking available)

Event Description 13 and 14 January 2020 (both days must be attended).
This two-day course aims to ensure that staff have appropriate skills in moving and handling people, and to enable them to meet legal responsibilities in relation to Manual Handling Regulations. Delegates complete a workbook as part of the course.
Delegates should attend refresher training 12 months after completing this course.

We will charge a full course fee for any booked delegate who gives less than seven calendar days' notice of a cancellation, or who does not attend on the day of the course. 
Event Outcomes By the end of the session participants will be able to:

-Recognise legal implications to moving and handling of people.
-Apply ergonomic risk assessment before carrying out any handling operation.
-Identify the need for appropriate communication as a base of dignified care
-Recognise the structure and functions of the spine and the main cause of back pain.
-Recognise the importance of adopting correct posture for handling in everyday activities.
-Recall the correct procedure for reporting barriers to safety, accidents, and injuries.
-Demonstrate an understanding and consideration of the individual needs and capability, ability to promote independence.
-Undertake moving and handling tasks safely and in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. 
Course Cost £ 60 
Event Charges Notes The course fee for non-Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) staff is £60 per delegate. The course is subsidised for staff in BCP Adult Social Care Services and Adult Social Services Commissioning. The course fee for other BCP service units is £60 per delegate.
